Since 1950
A Borger lumberyard, owned by one family since 1981.
Frank Morton started Morton Lumber Company in 1950, competing with two other Borger lumberyards, Knight Lumber and Foxworth-Galbraith Lumber.
He passed away in 1968, and two of his employees, Bill Carson and Bill Whitworth, took over the business. Mr. Whitworth left in 1972, and Mr. Carson sold the company to Robert and Marilyn Archer in 1981.
Marilyn grew up in Borger. Robert is from Paducah, Texas, where his family ran the Texaco distributorship in Cottle County. They met while both working in Vernon, Texas, fell in love, married, and decided to find a business to buy and raise their family in.

Foxworth-Galbraith decided to close its doors, and Robert offered to buy their building. After five months of remodeling, we moved Thanksgiving week and opened December 1st, going from 5,000 square feet to 25,000 on a full city block. We called it home for more than twenty years.

In 2018 we moved into a former Walmart building, a 66,000 square foot store, more than double our previous space. We spent eight months remodeling the interior and updating our inventory before opening the doors. Today it is filled with what you need to make your house a home and keep your building maintained.
Ace Hardware Corporation has received awards for high ratings in customer satisfaction, and for over 30 years that has been our goal, too. We have worked hard to have knowledgeable employees who can answer questions, give outstanding customer service, and provide a competitively priced selection of merchandise the community needs. We want your shopping dollars to remain here. We know we can't please everyone, but we try!
